On the incense road
One day, while I was on a trip in the Arabian desert, I stumbled upon a mysterious object that was buried deep in the sand. I was so excited to discover this object which dated back to the 3rd century according to a local, that I took refuge under the shade of the Hegra rocks. As soon as I opened the box, I got transported by a soft smell of musk and wooden amber that got me immerged in the kingdom of the Nabatean civilization. Then I had a vision about one of my designs.
When I heard about the 2nd edition of the ALULA Design Award, I immediately got inspired by the vision I had a few years ago and I decided to design my product having that in mind: an incense burner.
I have always been fascinated by the ancient civilizations and the richness of their culture. For me, it is an opportunity to highlight the exceptional beauty of the Arabian heritage through a design which rests upon the ritual of burning incense as a gesture of abundance and hospitality.
